West Edmonton Hyundai

We bought a red Hyundai Kona 2024, it's my favorite color. The service and assistance from the dealership was excellent. Everyone tried to help us with our choice and quickly decided what suited us, and ultimately hit the mark in all our desires. This is our largest purchase and we are 100% happy with everything. I recommend this dealership and car. The car exceeded our expectations both inside and out and is truly comfortable to drive. Very comfortable on the road. Large modern screens and many functions. I feel like I'm driving something special.

Update: Sales manager (Jonathon) and service manager (Chris) have responded to my challenging visit this week. They provided follow up options to be able to address the service requirements on my vehicle in a way that works for my schedule. Thanks again. Chris made room in the schedule, which I am sure is very busy, and committed to having my vehicle diagnosed with in an hour. I was pleased that they were able to do this. The service technician (sorry I didn’t catch his name) took the time to also come talk to me about the diagnosis, next steps and listened to events of my previous experience that led to a not ideal visit. I appreciate the follow up and look forward to a more positive experience as we move forward with service on my vehicle. Original: I cannot believe the terrible service at west Edmonton Hyundai. I have been using the service department for a number of years and it has gone downhill. DO NOT GO HERE They are not helpful, don’t return calls and don’t provide updates on what they are doing with your vehicle. I had to make arrangements to go the day without my car only to find out they did nothing with my car. They never called to update me and I have to follow up multiple times with none of my calls returned. I am so frustrated

Laura and Umid were so amazing to deal with in the service centre last night. We'd had a few rough days starting the vehicle in the -40C temps and the result was an unexpected expense but they worked with us to find an affordable solution for our family. I honestly can't thank them enough for being so kind and understanding. I will definitely return here for service work in the future!

Update: The Service Manager, Rodney, has been lovely. He listened to our concerns, went with us to the car, and immediately saw the issue. He waived the diagnostic fees and is helping us find a solution. Thank you for listening. Original: This is our second new car from this dealership; we’ve dealt with them for almost 10 years. We’ve had issues with our Santa Fe’s backup camera since we brought it home. The service people have kept saying that they’re unable to fix it it because it they’re unable to duplicate the issue (even though I’ve sent them videos of it continuing immediately after leaving). They keep saying not to worry because it’s covered under warranty, and they’ll deal with it next time. This has been going on for almost 7 years. Went this week for service and mentioned this same problem, and they are charging $150 to diagnose it, and still did not do anything to fix it. Do not buy from this dealer unless you want the runaround for years. They also charged $75 for diagnosing a problem where the A/C drips into the car.

Unfortunately I would say to be wary of this dealership especially if you’re buying a used car and prioritize safety. When we got our car we had negotiated they would fix a problem they quoted at between $700-$1000 as part of the sale agreement. They even put it in writing. When we got the car a new problem had arose we weren’t disclosed and the dealership was no help. We ended up having to spent $160 because the stereo wasn’t ground to the ebrake and wasn’t working. Otherwise our independent inspection showed everything was fine besides needing to change the transmission fluid. When we did that a month later the ball joint for the control arm was in incredibly bad shape. Deterioration that shouldn’t have happened that fast. Not safe to drive by our mechanics standards. So we got a second opinion from another independent mechanic. Same as the first said he wouldn’t feel safe driving with his wife and 2 year old in it. We called Hyundai and they said the part might be defective (our mechanic suspected defective or cheap) and encouraged us to bring the car back (a 4 hour drive both ways) to get the problem fixed. After them inspecting the car they decided they didn’t see a problem and they said using the better parts suggested by our mechanic would be double the price of parts and labour they used. They refunded us $300 for the parts and labour (what happened to the $700-$1000 value it was valued and quoted by them? Shady.) and sent us on our way in an unsafe car. That $300 has covered parts only and now we’ll be out another $400-$500 to get a better qualified mechanic interested in safety to take care of the issue. The only reason this review isn’t 1 star is because the sales staff was great initially, though in hindsight maybe that was just to get our money.

Made an appointment for my daughter's car 2 weeks ago. Received a phone call 3 days prior to the appointment to confirm. Day of appointment my daughter was told by person "A" they did not have an appointment time for her but they would "fit her in". I phoned to sort it out later and someone else (person "B") was able to find our appointment. My daughter was shuttled to school (the wrong school at first so she had to give the driver the correct school as person A gave him the wrong school). I asked person "B" (who insisted that I speak with her directly as she knew all about our scenario), that when the car was done to contact me as my daughter could not respond while in class. My daughter was contacted by person A instead and I heard nothing. My daughter asked me to respond on her behalf anyway. I gave the dealership (person B) her schools address and time that she needed to be picked up. I phoned again, as requested, a short while before the shuttle was needed to ensure everything was in order (proper address, proper phone number and time). I was assured it was. The driver never showed up to pick up my daughter. He claimed to have been waiting at the school for 25 minutes. I was on the phone with my daughter when she physically went outside to look at all the vehicles parked there during the time the driver stated he was there, but she could not find him. The driver claimed he called my daughter and she did not answer. Smart phones show ALL the incoming and outgoing calls as well as all the missed calls. She checked her phone and there were NO SUCH CALLS made! She waited for OVER AN HOUR and there was no word from the driver or from the dealership. The driver claimed to call the dealership to confirm the number, so why didn't the dealership try to call? Did they confirm if he was even in the right location? My daughter is a minor, and to leave her stranded without contacting her OR ME is completely unacceptable!!! When I found out she was stranded, (an hour later!) I phoned the dealership immediately and they sent a cab for her! Why did the info between person A and person B not get coordinated? Why did the dealership not try to contact my daughter or myself when the driver claimed to not be able to get a hold of her, a minor, stranded at school? Right from the start, from the appointment time not being found to the proper communication not occurring to the neglect of my daughter, this was a DISASTER!!! I will never bring her car to this dealership again!
